About Tam
Tamara Dhia was born in Baghdad, Iraq. At a young age, her parents fled to the States, settling in Nashville, TN. At the tender age of eight she expressed in an interest in the arts, but it wasn’t until she completed her undergraduate studies that she decided
to whole-heartedly pursue acting as a career. After receiving a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism from the American University in Washington D.C. , she moved to New York. While there she appeared in various independent films and commercials. During her downtime she began writing and producing many of her own projects. Most notably, the play “Burned” which she co-wrote,co-produced and co-starred that was held at the infamous Cherry Lane Theater. Acclaim came shortly thereafter
for her performance as the lead role of Amal in “Santa Claus in Baghdad”, an independent film that went on to win numerous awards at film festivals across the country. She now resides in Los Angeles where she continues to stay busy and hone her craft as a producer, writer and actress. She is currently in production on a new web series entitled “MY LA with Tamara Dhia”, a concept she not only helped to create but also actively produces. Tamara, a notorious foodie, hosts the show and takes viewers on a tour of some her favorite places to dine in the greater Los Angeles area. Tamara is also currently one of the writers, producers and stars of a highly anticipated new comedic web series entitled “The Wood”, slated to be released in January of 2010.
